Well for me until the Space Combat ship "Bumper Car Effect" is fixed this game is On Hold. It totally ruins SC for me.
(Ludicrous example)If space ships are made from rubber in the future maybe Bumper Carring for position will take the place of ramming an enemy ship.
And why would you want to ram your own ships?
I can't stand to see my ships jostle each other all over the screen for positioning. It's total chaos now. When Neutron decides to fix this I'll give it another go.

Edit: And to think I bought 2 copies of this game, spent over $100 for them combined, I feel as if I've been played by a carnies shell game.

The 1.03 patch has addressed some of my issues with the game. I am now giving it some play time.

Right atm I think about buying this game!
Plz you guys who played and liked Moo3, tell me what i can expect!
I love it complex, i love to control every little detail and I need depth!
I also took a look into Distant Worlds - but it seems so simple.
(Saw you there too Joseph - maybe you got a decent overview of games?)
So should i spend some money on this? Good advice is very welcome!

It's a decent 4X TBS Space game. Not as deep as MoO3 (there may never be another as deep as it is).
Armada is designed to be a quicker game than the MoO series. And focus is upon the 3rd X of the 4.
The price isn't too stiff and there is discussion of an Expansion later on.

Well, i just played a game (150 turns) and i am pretty disappointed.
This game is to simple and in addition i don't get a feeling of being "in" there.
I really don't understand how games still are not able to just copy the standards Moo2 set and add something good.
I only see few good points:
- buildings can be upgraded
- combat is in 3 D (but the controls are awfully bad!)
- random research buildings (can't remember name atm)
And that is really it. This game is to "plastic" - i got no connection with it. Why can't i reasearch all parts of the ships and then assemble them in the way i want?
Where are my "heroes"?
Where are random events which made Moo(2/3) so great?
Why is there so few diversifikation? (Planets/Resources/Races)
Why can't i create my own race? Why can't i rename my planets and stuff? (or is that somehow possible?)
I miss so much...! It is way to fast and simple, what makes it boring as hell...!!!
Atm i really miss Moo3!
Cmon, someone out there create a decent 3d-combat mode for Moo3!!!

Armada 2526 is a game about making interesting strategic decisions, not about micromanagement of your colonies or ship designs which are quite well covered by other games, and which Armada deliberately streamlines to keep the pace of the game moving along. If that's what you like, it isn't surprising you're a little disappointed.
However, 150 turns isn't that far into the game, so I'd urge you to keep playing and maybe you'll come to appreciate it for what it is, rather than what you hoped it would be.

You can do some of that stuff by editing the xml files.
In game, you can rename your systems by clicking on their names in the colony screen.
